How to Make the Shift to Healthy Eating

Ready to begin eating well, but don’t quite know where to start? Here are 4 tips that will help you get settled into your new lifestyle!

  1. Cook your own food. Limit the number of times you eat out per week and take the opportunity to buy fresh produce at your local market and try those tasty recipes you’ve been seeing online. Cooking your own food in house will give control over what you put in your food and will also save you some money!
  2. Buy a water bottle and bring it everywhere you go! This will get you in the habit of drinking a lot more water throughout the day, and help you cut out sugary drinks like juice, frappuccinos and pop.
  3. Eat nutritious calories. Avoid empty calories (highly processed foods that are high in added sugar and fat) such as chips, cake, crackers… Instead, prioritize nutrient dense foods such as fruit and vegetables as well as plant based protein. This will keep your energy high and provide you with the nutrients you need to be as healthy and fit as possible!
  4. Eat a balanced diet. Make sure you are eating enough veggies! Balance your fruit and dairy intake. Include enough protein and grains. Your plate should look something like this:
